Details of Incident

 

Two men have been charged and remanded in custody to appear in court following a violent incident in York last week. We're still appealing for information, can you help?

 

Two of the three men who were arrested yesterday (Tuesday 23 April 2024) in connection with the violent attack on 19 April during which a man suffered burns to his back, have been charged and will appear in court tomorrow.

 

The 26-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent. He has also been recalled back to prison.

 

The 29-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent, witness intimidation, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker.

 

A man in his 60s who was the third person in the vehicle has been released on condition bail. Three other people, a 41-year-old woman, a 43-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man have also previously been released on bail while enquiries continue.

 

Detective Chief Inspector Fionna McEwan commented:

 

“We have so far charged two people and arrested four others in connection with this violent incident in York and I’m grateful to the public for their help with this investigation.

Our inquiries are still very much ongoing, and I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward.

Serious and organised crime will not be tolerated in North Yorkshire and we will deal robustly with any criminal behaviour.”
